What's being studied — points to watch

Satellite links in 7–8 GHz

IMT base stations must not raise interference into fixed- and mobile-satellite reception across 7125–8400 MHz — including stations in international waters or airspace that cannot be registered in the MIFR (Res. 256).

Weather-satellite downlinks

Meteorological-satellite downlinks near 7.45 and 7.75 GHz feed forecasting; their protection is a central requirement of the studies.

Space research & Earth observation

EESS and SRS reception in the band are low-signal and sensitive to aggregate IMT emissions.

"No new constraints" bar

Resolution 256 asks that identifying IMT add no regulatory or technical constraints on incumbents — a high threshold.

Three very different bands

Each band has its own incumbents and regional scope: identification is considered for 4400–4800 MHz in Regions 1 and 3, 7125–8400 MHz in Regions 2 and 3 (Region 1 only 7125–7250 and 7750–8400 MHz), and 14.8–15.35 GHz globally (Res. 256).
